Where to Watch the Philadelphia St Patrick's Day Parade
The parade runs 1.4 miles from 16th & JFK to 5th & Market. Here's which corner to pick, and why.
Best for photos: Dilworth Park at City Hall
The parade turns south around City Hall, giving you City Hall's tower as a natural backdrop for every bagpiper, band and float. Get there by 10:30 AM to stake out the ring around the fountain.
Best for families: 12th & Market
Less crowded than the Broad Street stretches, right across from Reading Terminal Market — so you can duck inside for restrooms, coffee, or a pretzel. Wide sidewalks make it easy with strollers.
Best for photographers: 9th & Market
By the time the parade reaches 9th & Market, units are fully strung out — no more bunching from step-off. Long lens shots down Market with the Aramark tower behind are gorgeous.
Best for the show: 5th & Market Reviewing Stand
This is where the bands do their judged performance. If you want to actually see string bands and pipe bands perform (not just march past), this is the spot. Grandstand seating is first-come, first-serve.
Best if you also want a pint: Center City pubs
McGillin's Olde Ale House (1310 Drury St), Tir na nÓg (1600 Arch St), and Fadó (1500 Locust St) are all a short walk from the route. Watch part of the parade, then head to your Irish bar of choice.
